MACSP in coordination with Independence Association invites you to Lest We Forget on Tuesday May 16th from 9am to 12pm at the Hall of Flags in the State House! This event is part of an Advocacy Day hosted by the Maine Association of Community Support Providers. Lest We Forget showcases artwork and visual expression by artists with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It is a celebration of the arts, community integration, and an opportunity to reflect on the voices that were stifled and segregated prior to the closure of Pineland Center, Maine’s largest institution for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Lest We Forget is a critical opportunity to remember human rights advances for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities made over the past two decades at a time when the current system of services is in crisis. The exhibition represents six East Coast studios, Artists’ Exchange (RI), Center for Creative Works (PA), Downtown Designs Gallery (RI), (ME), Out of the Box Studio & Gallery (RI), and Studio 57 (RI).
